Here’s a true story neatly summing up why you need a GPS tracker for your car.

Here’s a true story neatly summing up why you need a GPS tracker for your car. One day not so long ago, we foolishly and optimistically hit a water park on a sweltering August day. In our heady excitement, we forgot where we left the car, figuring we’d simply stumble on it at the end of the day. Six hours later: Starving kids, overheated parents, no family wheels in sight. Ah, we thought, if only we’d had a way to locate our car. Enter the Bouncie, which acts as a liaison between you and your ever-more-complicated car, truck, or SUV, providing you with real information about your driving habits, location, and system so that you can depend on your vehicle the way that others depend on you. Bouncie is a one-two tech punch that includes both a hardware piece and a connected app. Quickly plug in the device to the OBD port (all modern vehicles will have them) and then sync with the app. Voila, a world of data is now at your fingertips. Lost your car at Disneyworld? The app shows you exactly where you left it. Have a teen spreading his or her wings behind the wheel? Monitor their speed. A feature called “Geo-Circles” shows that if he or she has driven beyond your agreed-upon boundarie...

A New Focus for Tieman’s O.ME.P.S Aluminium Dry Bulk Tankers | Truck Trailer Building & Equipment News

YPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd”> The dry bulk tanker market in Australia is demanding better payloads and a new focus by two family businesses, Tieman Tankers and Italian manufacturer O.ME.P.S will future proof customer investments. In 2009 Tieman introduced the first O.ME.P.S aluminium dry bulk tanker to the Australian market. That 42CM cement tanker sold to Moloney Transport in Victoria has done over 1.5 million kilometres and is celebrating a 10-year operational milestone, performing well according to the owners. Repeat business is testimony to the reliability with Moloney Transport now operating multiple O.ME.P.S aluminium cement tankers in their fleet. Aluminium dry bulk tankers have been built in Europe since the 1960s and the majority of all dry bulk tankers across Europe are made from aluminium to optimise payload and efficiencies. Australia now has the rungs on the board with proven reliability from European manufactured quality aluminium tankers and the trend is now changing from steel to more aluminium. While the initial capital cost is higher on aluminium t...

And sometimes it’s just what the machine builder is most familiar with. With relays, there are a few clear-cut ways to go, but many times it’s a matter of trade-offs. Choosing between electromechanical relays (EMRs) and solid-state relays (SSRs) is sometimes more difficult than you get credit for. Mike Bacidore is the editor in chief for Control Design magazine. (CNN) – On Sunday, CNN Digital released a special report called “Slavery’s Last Stronghold.” It focuses on current-day slavery in Mauritania, a West African country where an estimated 10% to 20% of people are enslaved. In 1981, Mauritania became the last country in the world to abolish slavery. It didn’t make owning a person a crime until 2007. Work on this story started 11 months ago, after we stumbled upon a few of those statistics. As part of  The CNN Freedom Project, a multi-year effort to report on modern slavery, we began talking with anti-slavery organizations and government workers who deal with Mauritania in hopes that we could get a sense of what life is like in this place where slavery is so shockingly common. Eventually we found SOS Slaves, an abolitionist group in Mauritania that was founded by a former slave owner and a man whose family was enslaved. Think about that for a second: A slave and a slave owner came together to start an organization that is now trying to liberate people in a place where slavery is arguably more intractable and more common than anywhere else on Earth. It’s such a powerful symbol of hope, cooperation an...

Beer News: Town In City Is Moving, Selling Its Existing Brewery

Big news this week from Town in City Brewery: The Heights producers—who have pivoted to cider over the last six months—are moving out of their facility. Justin Engle, founder of Town in City, told Houstonia he can’t reveal the new location yet, but the move is happening primarily because “we can barely fit our new tanks in our space.”   As a result, Town in City—through real estate brokerage firm NAI Partners—is selling not just the property, but also the 15-barrel brewhouse inside of it, which includes four 30-barrel fermentation tanks and two 30-barrel brite tanks. You could buy the whole thing—brewhouse and production area, taproom, outdoor seating area—for an undisclosed amount. You could buy the brewhouse itself (price undisclosed), without the property, or you could buy the 3,749-square-foot property itself, without the brewhouse ($1 million listing price). From a release, it sounds as if NAI Partners would love to see a brewer ready to make the leap and purchase the space and brewhouse. “The opportunity to purchase a turnkey brewery in and of itself is pretty unique, not to mention being located in one of Houston’s hottest neighborhoods that also happens...

Gear-obsessed editors choose every product we review. We may earn money if you buy from a link. How we test gear. The first power tool people buy is usually a cordless drill/driver due to its versatility. But a dedicated impact driver makes many jobs easier. They are ideal for building decks, screwing down plywood, installing tile backer board, or for any other job that requires driving a long screws into wood. See our top five favorites below, or scroll deeper for more helpful buying info, how we tested, and full reviews of these and other high-ranking options. Impact drivers, unlike drills, have a spring-loaded, quick-release chuck that accepts ¼-inch hex shank driver bits. They are designed to drive wood and sheet metal screws, but they can also turn a bolt when equipped with an impact-rated socket. They can drive fasteners more quickly than a cordless drill and their compactness makes them easier to handle, especially in a tight spot or when you’re standing on a ladder. They drive and remove by applying concussive, rotational force to the screw or bolt head. It can deliver significantly more torque than a drill and will be less likely to twist your wrist when the faste...

Lasagna carbonara. Photo credit: Dylan James Ho + Jeni Afuso © 2019. “Reprinted with permission from Lasagna: A Baked Pasta Cookbook by Anna Hezel and the Editors of TASTE, copyright © 2019. Published by Clarkson Potter/Publishers, an imprint of Penguin Random House.” In 1970, Julia Child made a surprising admission on her show, “The French Chef.” She said didn’t understand how the Italians assemble lasagna. She even substituted cottage cheese for ricotta. Fast forward to today, when frozen lasagna is a household staple for many Americans.  Anna Hezel is a senior editor at TASTE and author of “Lasagna: A Baked Pasta Cookbook.” Good Food’s Evan Kleiman spoke with her about this layered pasta dish and its enduring popularity among Americans.  Part of the fun of spaghetti carbonara is that it combines all the best parts of breakfast (like eggs, ham, and cheese) with the best parts of dinner (like pasta, and having time to actually eat a sitdown meal). This lasagna version of carbonara includes mild Fontina, pancetta-studded ricotta, and eggs baked right in, toad-in-the-hole style. It’s as equally delicious served with a chilled bottle of Lambrusco on a Friday night, or for breakfas...

Pixel 4: Google’s Latest Smartphone Disqualified in India

Google’s (GOOGL) latest smartphone, the Pixel 4, won’t be available for sale in India. The company launched the new smartphone on Tuesday alongside other hardware products, including its Pixelbook Go laptop. Google didn’t elaborate on why it’s not selling the Pixel 4 in India. However, media reports suggest the disqualification may have been due to a feature included in the phone. Specifically, the Pixel 4’s face and gesture sensors operate on a frequency that India hasn’t licensed for commercial use. Missing out on India’s smartphone market, the world’s second largest, isn’t great news for Google. The hardware business, which comprises the Pixel smartphone line, has twin benefits for Google and its parent, Alphabet. The first is advertising, and the second is revenue source diversification. Furthermore, Google uses its Android smartphones to distribute its money-making apps, YouTube, Google Maps, and Search. It monetizes these apps through advertising, its primary source of revenue. Google does still have plenty of other opportunities to distribute its apps in India, however. Xiaomi, Samsung (SSNLF), and BBK Electronics, which dominate the smartphone market in India, all make ...
